Do I have a interest in it?
Maybe so or maybe not.
I only have an interest for Shane Black & Fred Dekker's The Predator.

I doubt it's even been fully written yet.
It was obviously fully written a year ago or so. Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron read it and highly praised the script. Ridley Scott liked it too. I think it's ready to go, but they wait for Alien: Covenant release and hope for greenlight after this, as Neill, Sigourney and Biehn said many times in interviews.

So this project will create an alternate timeline but how are they gonna justify it. Time travelling ala Star Trek 09'?

I doubt it. They'll likely just ingnore part 3 and 4 like they never happened. That's actually the only option because others don't make any sense.

I think Alien 3 is a great movie. A bold direction to take. Fincher was doing his first film and knowing the troubled production and everything he had to endure. He wanted to punch the audience in the hard. So killing Hicks and Newt was the first step...

It would be very easy to just write off Alien 3 & 4 as dreams Ripley had while she was in cryo-stasis.

Yeah, there's definitely one script completed. Ridley talked about liking it before the project was put on hold.

I'd be curious to see it myself. I'm doubtful it's going to actually get made.
