Can I use that moving forward?

"Chaos, you are hereby SUMMONED!"
o_O  There is this wonderful function that this forum provides that will essentially do the same thing quite effectively. It is called a PM. You might want to look into it. Or - if you want to go more direct - feel free to PM for another marvel of communication known as email. Summoning someone is so ------- WTR. ;)

Q: You have Sigourney Weaver with an alien invasion theme in RAKKA and I started to wonder if there was an influence carried over from the ALIENS 5 sequel you were planning that fell through. Any truth to that?

BLOMKAMP: No, not at all. Obviously Fox owns the screenplays for ALIEN 5. It’s their property. I have no ability to do anything with those screenplays. If at any point Fox released them- or the audience was able to see the stuff that went on there – it is extremely different from what RAKKA is. Since the film never got made and it’s Fox’s material I can’t really talk about what was in that film, but it’s definitely nothing like RAKKA. If you think ALIENS and you think ALIEN, the screenplay was in line with that. RAKKA is more about the resulting effects of an occupying force coming to Earth. It’s thematically a very different piece.

But Ridley said there's no script!!!!(Well, of course he lied, he always lies, even about his own projects).

Evidently more than one draft. Revisions or completely different drafts/plots I wonder? Academic anyway other than confirming what many suspected.

You can read the Rakka scripts if you purchase it on Steam. Comes with its purchase as downloadable content.

It was pretty intriguing short film, too.

Crossing my fingers for it to leak.
The fact that he says it is a Fox property - which he cannot even discuss - pretty much says everything about this possibly ever leaking. It is going into a dark hole to forever collect dust. Not trying to be a killjoy - just being 100% realistic as we would be one of the few groups/people that could cover that cost if offered it. I do not see that ever happening and you can forget about a public leak if Blomkamp refuses to even acknowledge plot details.

Eh, yeah. Had a feeling that reality would beat me over the head with this one.

Why did fox cancell this? Are they letting Ridley Scott continue his never-ending string of prequels?

I honestly didn't like the sound of Blomkamp's ideas and I haven't liked anything he's made since District 9, so I'm okay with it never coming.

Because Ridley is a big guy in the industry and especially big guy in Fox. He doesn't want anybody to touch Alien besides him, so he has the power to exclude other people from the franchise. He's the main reason why it didn't happen.

There's a theory online that Blomkamp's short Zygote retained many elements that he had originally planned to include in Alien 5. For example the two main characters being similar to Hicks and Newt who are forced to fight and flee from an alien abomination. Also, Dakota Fanning was a perfect match for an older Newt.

Isn't that the joke, though? That Blomkamp just keeps telling the same story over and over again?
