Movie Aliens sequel by Neill Blomkamp

Well, last night Cameron was on the red carpet talking about ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL and a reporter asked Cameron if "... after [director Tim Miller is done with the Terminator reboot] can you give Neill Blomkamp a call about Aliens, please?" To which Cameron quickly responded:"I'm working on that, yeah."
I think Cameron was joking or something, but here we go again. He should've supported the project when it really needed that support. But let's see what happens next.

I wonder if this project will eventually get a graphic novel/comic book release like William Gibson’s Alien III screenplay.

There's also the fact that the old Aliens comics by Mark Verheiden act as a sequel to Aliens without Alien 3 in the picture.
Yeah, that was one of the better Aliens comics to come out back in the day. I don’t think it was ever commissioned as a film production, though. Shame they went such a weird route with the franchise.

I actually appreciate Alien 3 for its attempt to go back to the darker tone set forth in the original. It lacks in the visceral imagery that Alien had, but does hit almost the right mood. Aliens, I've actually come to appreciate less since it's so 80s despite being set in the future. That's kind of what's stopping my encouragement of Blomkamp's pitch. It just feels like a fan-fic that's being given the greenlight.
