Hello,

Due to lack of funds and some health issues, I’ve decided to disable attachments and delete the remaining attachments (scripts) by the end of the week. In short, users will no longer be able to download or upload PDF screenplays (attachments) on SD. Manual data backups are extremely time-consuming, especially if you have tens of thousands of attachments on your site. Add to that the cost of hosting them and the possibility of a lawsuit.

The forum will remain active, so that people can still retain the connections they’ve made if they desire to do so, and there are plenty of options for that (PMs, the forum itself). Also, I wanted to allow sufficient time for people to wrap up existing threads, suggest alternative forums, exchange contact info, and say goodbye.

The community took a lot of work to maintain, but for much of that time it was a labor of love. This was never about making a profit. In fact, I have never made a dime from this forum. The little money that I received from the one time subscription ($ 2.99) was all spent on web hosting.

I think most people will be able to understand this, even if they don’t agree with my decision. It was the right decision, and I have no regrets about how it played out. Despite how it ended, I consider this site a great success. During its existence it helped a lot of writers. I know that many people are very grateful for it. If anyone else thinks they can create something better than this, then I invite you to do so. Now that the attachments are gone, I’m going to focus on my life/health. After 4+ years, I more than deserve a break from it.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who participated in our online community.

Kind regards,
Max

Thanks for letting us know about this Max, and for all the help your site and all the members provided to everyone else, and i wish you luck with your health. I'm glad to hear that forum will still stay open because i'd hate to see this site disappear. Ever since i first joined in i met lot of good people, learned so much more (not just about scripts) and found so many great scripts which i was looking for a long time and would probably never found on my own.

If the script attachments are only thing that's gonna be missing from the site, then i can't say that these are really bad news. We can always post the scripts on some other file sharing sites and then put the links for them on SD threads (same thing goes for private trading of course).

I can allow sharing scripts using Pms, but posting external links from various file sharing sites is a bad idea. The person posting the link or the site could get into trouble for that. But if your looking for something like that then you or someone else could always start their own forum for free using sites like https://www.forumotion.com/. It's your best option.

Hey @max, I am sorry to hear you have health issues - bummer man. I hope it is nothing too serious. Anyway, I want to express my gratitude for the wealth of scripts that have become available in this one spot through your efforts: It is appreciated, man.

Private messaging sounds like a way to go then, and it really is the safest way to share the scripts. And you're right, i'm sure someone will start their own new script sharing forum.

Nothing but respect for you and all the work you put into the joint, Max. Lots of folks have made lots of connections, traded and shared lots of stuff, and become part of a generous community thanks to you. Anybody gives you guff for closing up shop, you send 'em my way and I'll thump 'em up real good for you. And damn it, feel better already. This health issue shit is for the birds!

It's been a great site. I came here initially when I googled "Basic Instinct" for any other drafts. I landed here and was amazed. Not since "MyPDFScripts" had I found a resource this good. I was in a hotel room in Fort Lauderdale getting ready to head out for a cruise the next day, which meant seven days away from my new found Nirvana. Thanks for everything. It's been a blast!

Sorry to hear about your health issues, Max. I just want to say as an aspiring screenwriter, this site was more than helpful in my writing as well as continuing my love for film. Hope you get better and may you have a wonderful holiday season.

Max, thank you for maintaining such a useful site for so long, I like everyone here and hope we can all keep in touch. I hope everything goes well and that the time off affords you the opportunity to deal with your health issues, definitely understand how all-consuming those can be.
P.S. I'm a real rube and this is one of about four resources I have for screenplays, does anyone have suggestions for other good websites/forums? If this isn't the place or time for that, though, I understand.

What are your other resources?
