Hey guys,

I was wondering, what are your favorite screenplays under 90 pages? Or just which movies do you know have short screenplays? The genre doesn't matter. Are there many good ones?

Scripts under 90 pages are most common on animated films.

Most studios require 90 pages or more to be sure that the finished film will be 88 minutes or more, which is contractually required by the movie theatres.

IIRC, Max Landis has written under 90.

FWIW, when Universal decided to release DUEL as a feature overseas, they told Spielberg to shoot additional footage and add 14 minutes to it. That brought the running time from a 75-minute MOW to an 89-minute feature.

Gravity - Alfonso Cuaron and Jonas Cuaron

A Quiet Place - Scott Beck and Bryan Woods

These two are good scripts under 90 pages. There is more but these two comes to mind.

There was a script on the blacklist a few years back that was some 40 odd pages, as I think it was dialogue free. Yellowstone Falls.

Here are a couple. I haven't read them yet. Solaris (2002), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Winter's Bone (2010), Carmen Jones (1954), The Piano (1993). Also, almost all TV scripts are less than 90p.
